“I’m So Sorry” – Imagine Dragons. Very different style from what I’m used to from Imagine Dragons. I’m such a fan of the rockabilly + EDM genre. Fun fact: Avicii’s True is one of the few albums that I can listen to cover to cover.
“Jungle” – XAmbassadors + Jamie Commons. Another really goddang danceable song.
“My Neck, My Back” – Richard Cheese. A Tetazoo song. It’s a cover, but I heard this version first and wow, I’m a fan.
(h/t rusch for all of the following chiptune suggestions)
Comic Bakery (Commodore 64). Honestly a super classic track. I think I first listened to this from jtl3 way back in high school. He’s a super old-school EE nerd and the first person I met who had good indie tastes in music, running towards Royksopp, chiptune, old school techno and others. I’m very sure he played this for me and the tune was so good that it stuck with me nearly 8 years later.
Wally Beben’s Tetris (Commodore 64). Extremely cool visualization and riddiculously chill beats. Good music to just lie on the floor and just zone out to.
“Don’t Sing” – Data. (NSFW) (h/t tsims) Sharing because wow, this music video is one of my favorites in a long time, even though the music stays in the background.
“Her Radiant Limb” – Mother Falcon. Vaguely Streetlight Manifesto + Takenobu in a way that works really well.
“Take My Chance” – DOLL$BOXX. Found them because I was trying to find more bands like Babymetal. I’m a huge fan of this group, especially the drummer, who is apparently also the drummer for Gacharic Spin, so I should probably check them out next.
“Hito to Shite Jiku ga Burete Iru” – Kenji Otsuki. – Acoustic version of the OP for “Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei” anime (NSFW). Encountered it over the summer at first and didn’t really like it, but found myself wanting to hear it again. Here’s also the Phoenix Wright version of the OP with a more rock remix orchestration (still NSFW).
“Lonely Boy” – The Black Keys. An old song, but this is the first time that I’ve ever seen the music video. I really love it – it really describes how I dance to a T.
“Whatever It Was” – Greg Brown. Gets a bit repetitive but I really like the imagery in the lyrics.
“Loot My Body” – Man Man. Classic Man Man – inscrutable lyrics but sick instrumentation.
Stay musical, my friends.
